The Story Behind Lip Dub Fort Smith
October 1, 2018
The “Future Fort Smith” events of the 4th Quarter will be a celebration of Fort Smith through an all-digital medium. Beginning Monday October 1st, 2018 a series of online video vignettes will be released every three weeks depicting aspects of Future Fort Smith: Transportation, Technology, Education, and Daily Life of our citizens.
The Grand Finale of the Quarter will be a Guinness World Record attempt involving over 5,000 people, to create a Viral Video promoting Fort Smith as world-class city.
Each video vignette will incorporate Fort Smith’s rich history into a vision of the future as told by the people.
In Transportation, change has been constant in the River Valley: From our humble beginnings on horses and buggies, to the railroad and the trolley system, and to automobiles and the commercially navigable River. The future of transportation is bright in our city, and Ford Motor Company has agreed to loan self-driving cars for the 4th Quarter events. The future I-49 Corridor will also be incorporated.
Technology in our city has always been part of who we are, with major manufacturing operations and even one of the first automobiles built here by Charles Lindbergh in 1898. In recent years, UAFS in partnership with Baldor built an all-electric car. Technology continues to change our culture and paint a picture of what tomorrow will bring.
Education is a large part of that future as well, with the School of Medicine, Future High School, and the incredible growth of UAFS. We are proud of our learning institutions, and will tell the story of how education continues to enrich our lives.
Finally, Daily Life in the River Valley will be showcased in the diversity of our people, races and religions.
Lip Dub Fort Smith, a non-profit organization incorporated in March of 2016, will seek to unseat the reigning Guinness World Record holders and promote Fort Smith, Arkansas as an incredible place to live, work, and play.
